Document Translation

What makes document translation go wrong

The most common source of translation errors in business documents is not incompetence. It is a mismatch between the translator and the content. A competent general translator can produce grammatically correct text that is commercially meaningless, legally imprecise, or tonally wrong for its intended audience. A financial report translated by someone who has never read a balance sheet will be technically accurate word-for-word and professionally useless.

At nicetranslation, every document is matched to a translator with relevant professional experience. Financial documents go to translators with finance backgrounds. Technical manuals go to engineers who translate. Marketing materials go to native copywriters who understand the local market. This is not a differentiator we invented for our website. It is the practical difference between work that is accepted and work that has to be done again.

Every document translation goes through our TEP (Translation, Editing, Proofreading) process: the translator produces the draft, a separate editor reviews it against the source for accuracy and terminological consistency, and a proofreader checks the final version for grammar, formatting, and completeness.

Document types we handle

We translate across all major categories of business and personal documentation:

  • Corporate: contracts, supplier agreements, partnership documents, board resolutions, bylaws
  • Financial: annual reports, audit statements, investment presentations, financial summaries
  • HR and employment: employment contracts, handbooks, termination letters, compliance policies
  • Marketing: brochures, catalogues, press releases, pitch decks, advertising copy
  • Technical: product manuals, user guides, specifications, engineering reports
  • Academic: transcripts, diplomas, recommendation letters, research papers
  • Personal: birth and marriage certificates, driving licenses, bank statements
  • Real estate: purchase contracts, lease agreements, property deeds
  • Government: correspondence, permit applications, compliance submissions

Formats we accept and deliver

We accept Word (.docx, .doc), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx), PDF (text-based or scanned), and plain text. For scanned PDFs, we perform OCR before translation and flag any sections where scan quality may affect accuracy. We return the translated document in the same format as the source wherever possible.

Every delivery includes a terminology reference sheet. For projects with multiple documents or ongoing work, we maintain a shared glossary and translation memory file to ensure consistency across all outputs.

Turnaround and pricing

Standard turnaround is 2-3 business days for most documents. Short documents (under 1,500 words) typically deliver in 1-2 days. Rush 48-hour service is available as an add-on. Very large projects are quoted individually with a phased delivery schedule. We provide a fixed price before any payment is taken.
